They are thought to have been regarded as having some religious or magical function, including being talismans, amulets or charms. Typically they are elongated or cylindrical and have been shaped by grinding or other human activity, and may be perforated and/or grooved. Neither of these brooches has been seen in Perthshire since the late-19 th/early-20th century, passing from private hands to the British Museum at auctions in 18. This rock crystal charmstone is possibly from Perthshire. which is in the possession of the Marquis of Breadalbane (Campbell of Breadalbane). All trace of the station has been removed, although a loading bank is still standing. Other charm stones include the Leug, or Charm Stone of the Macleans. The signal box was still used until 1979.
